A global leader in environmental sustainability in outpatient healthcare, Dr. Sack will share evidence on the climate impacts of clinical practice, practical tools to improve sustainability, and educational resources for clinicians and patients. This is an important topic for junior doctors. Capacity building and awareness on these topics will be a focus area in the JDN Planetary Health Working Group’s current term.

Outpatient clinics and practices are responsible for a quarter of the healthcare industry’s greenhouse gases and toxic air pollutants, yet little attention has been paid to this sector. Dr. Todd Sack speaks nationally and internationally on the challenges of greening clinics. This talk, intended for clinicians, practice managers, and administrators, will offer practical approaches to saving money and other resources through sustainability, and to teaching healthy choices to patients and communities.
